REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY

1. General

Joseph Kansema aims to provide customers with clear and fair refund and cancellation arrangements.

This policy applies to purchases of:

  • Physical books;
  • E-books and digital products;
  • Online courses; and
  • Seminar and event tickets.

Nothing in this policy removes or limits any consumer right that cannot legally be excluded under South African law.

2. Physical Books

Customers may request a return and refund where:

  • The wrong book was supplied;
  • The book arrives damaged;
  • The book is defective;
  • The book is materially different from the product ordered; or
  • Another legally recognised reason for return applies.

Where a qualifying defect exists, consumer rights under applicable South African law will apply.

For defective goods covered by the Consumer Protection Act, applicable statutory rights may include repair, replacement or refund.

Customers should contact Joseph Kansema as soon as reasonably possible after identifying the problem.

3. Change-of-Mind Returns for Physical Books

Where a customer changes their mind about a physical book, cancellation or return may be available where provided for by applicable South African law.

Where a return is accepted on a change-of-mind basis, the book should generally be returned in its original condition and suitable for resale.

The customer may be responsible for applicable return delivery costs where permitted by law.

4. E-Books and Digital Products

Because e-books and digital products are supplied electronically, customers should carefully review the product description before purchasing.

Once an e-book or digital product has been supplied or accessed, Joseph Kansema does not ordinarily provide a voluntary change-of-mind refund.

However, this policy does not exclude any statutory consumer right that applies to the transaction.

If an e-book or digital product:

  • Cannot be accessed;
  • Is corrupted;
  • Is materially defective;
  • Is materially different from its description; or
  • Cannot reasonably be used for the purpose for which it was purchased,

the customer should contact us.

Where appropriate, we may provide:

  • Corrected access;
  • A replacement copy;
  • An alternative access method; or
  • A refund.

5. Online Courses

Customers may request cancellation before course access has been provided, where applicable.

Once course access has been provided or the customer has begun accessing course materials, a voluntary change-of-mind refund will generally not be provided, subject to any rights available under applicable South African law.

If technical problems prevent access to a purchased course, Joseph Kansema will first attempt to:

  1. Restore access;
  2. Provide alternative access;
  3. Extend the customer’s access period; or
  4. Provide another reasonable solution.

If the purchased course cannot reasonably be provided, a refund may be processed where appropriate.

6. Seminar and Event Tickets

Cancellation and refund arrangements for seminar and event tickets may depend on the specific event.

Where Joseph Kansema cancels an event, customers will be informed and an appropriate refund, replacement ticket or alternative arrangement will be provided, subject to applicable law.

Where a customer is unable to attend an event, the customer should contact us as soon as possible.

7. Refund Processing

Where a refund is approved, Joseph Kansema will normally process the refund using the original payment method where possible.

We aim to initiate approved refunds within 7 business days after the refund has been approved and all required information or returned goods have been received.

The time taken for the funds to appear in the customer’s account may depend on the payment provider and the customer’s bank.

The 7-business-day processing target is an internal processing target and does not replace any statutory refund period that may apply under South African law.

8. How to Request a Refund

Customers should email:

support@josephkansema.co.za

The request should include:

  • Full name;
  • Email address used for the purchase;
  • Order or transaction number;
  • Product or service purchased;
  • Date of purchase;
  • Reason for the request; and
  • Photographs or supporting information where applicable.

9. Refund Method

Approved refunds will generally be processed through the original payment method.

Where the original payment method cannot reasonably be used, an alternative refund method may be agreed with the customer.

PayFast supports full and partial merchant refunds through its dashboard.

10. Cancellation Before Dispatch or Access

Customers may contact us to request cancellation:

  • Before a physical book has been dispatched;
  • Before an e-book has been supplied or accessed;
  • Before an online course has been made available or accessed; or
  • Before a seminar ticket has been used,

where applicable.

Once a product has been dispatched or digital/course access has been provided, the applicable refund provisions above will apply.

11. Statutory Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or waive any consumer rights provided by:

  • The Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008;
  • The Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002; or
  • Any other applicable South African law.

Where statutory rights provide a customer with a right to cancel, return or receive a refund, those rights will apply.
